The Loch Dubh Ceilidh Band is a renowned and experienced ceilidh band based in Argyll & Bute, Scotland. Frequently Asked Questions

What types of events do you cater for?

We provide ceilidhs and live music for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and any other special occasion. Send us a wee email or call us to discuss your event.

How long do you play for?

If you have booked the band as a Ceilidh band only, we usually find 2 hours during the night is ample as the ceilidh can be very energetic, but you are boss, and if you'd like more that's no problem. If you have booked the ceilidh band & DJ package then we are usually booked for up to four hours. However, if you'd like to discuss us playing for more than four hours, then please get in touch before the event so that both parties are in agreement and both know what's happening. 

Do you provide a caller?
Yes, we provide a professional caller for the ceilidhs.

How long does it take you to set up?

Depending on the load in and venue it usually takes us about an hour to set up, if your holding your event in a hotel, then we will usually liaise with the venue about the load in and set up.

For the DJ part, can we send you our requests

Of course, send as many of your favourite songs and artists and this will give our DJ an idea of your musical tastes, you can also request on the night, just ask our experienced DJ and he will do the rest. 

Do I need to know how to ceilidh dance?
No, our caller will teach everyone the basics of ceilidh dancing.

How far do you travel?

We are based in luss and Oban but do travel the length and breadth of the UK and further afield. 

My budget isn’t big? What do I do?

Get in touch as we can supply you with different options on band sizes from the One Man Ceilidh Band & DJ Right up to the almighty six piece Ceilidh band... we always try to help people out when at all possible. So don't be shy... as yer granny used to say, shy Bairns get nowt.... 

Do you play other music apart from ceilidh and disco

Yeah, although we are predominantly a Ceilidh Band, we do have wide repetiore of Scottish, Irish, Country and Cover songs from the 50s to present day chart hits, just to give your legs a rest from energetic Ceilidh dancing.
